Clog Heroes, Your Gainesville, VA Plumber in a Town That Started as a Stagecoach Stop
Gainesville homes in Prince William County can call Clog Heroes for plumbing, drains and sewer lines. Gainesville started out as New Stable, a stop on the Warrenton-Alexandria Turnpike where stagecoach drivers changed horses. That turnpike is U.S. Route 29 today, and a New Stable post office opened beside it in 1846.
Clog Heroes looks after plumbing, drains and sewer lines for Gainesville homeowners. You hear the options in plain words and see the price in writing before any work begins.
From New Stable to Gainesville
The name came with the railroad. In 1850 Thomas Brawner Gaines sold the Manassas Gap Railroad a right-of-way along the turnpike, then gave land for a depot on one condition: the stop would carry his name. By 1856 a small community with its own post office had grown up around the Gainesville depot.
Long before that, colonists called this stretch the Middle Grounds, because it sits between Broad Run and Bull Run. The depot later shipped grain, timber and cattle, and Gainesville stayed a major cattle shipping point into the early 1960s.
The Settlement and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church
Along U.S. Route 29, The Settlement took shape in the 1870s. Its core is roughly a triangle of Carver Road, Old Carolina Road and Route 29, and oral histories gathered in 2018 put Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at its center.
The congregation traces to 1877 and worships in a sanctuary from 1928. The church joined the Virginia Landmarks Register in 2020 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.
Conway Robinson State Forest and Jiffy Lube Live
For a walk in the woods, Conway Robinson State Forest has 440 acres and 5.1 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Park on the north side of Route 29, about 1,500 feet east of Interstate 66.
On summer nights the music comes from Jiffy Lube Live. It opened as Nissan Pavilion on June 6, 1995 and seats 25,262 people, 14,818 of them on the lawn.
The Route 29 and Linton Hall Road interchange opened on July 9, 2015 and carries traffic over the railroad tracks.
Potomac Water and the Upper Occoquan Plant
Gainesville sits in the western part of Prince William Water's service area. Your tap water starts in the Potomac River and is treated at Fairfax Water's Corbalis plant, and what goes down the drain heads to the Upper Occoquan Service Authority plant in Centreville.
