Clog Heroes, the Colonial Beach, VA Plumber From the Boardwalk to Monroe Bay
Plumbing, drain and sewer help reaches Colonial Beach, in Westmoreland County, Virginia, from the Clog Heroes shop in Fredericksburg. Half the homes in Colonial Beach were built before 1980. About one in four is older than 1950. The median house in town dates to 1979, so plenty of the pipes in town have some history behind them.
When yours act up, a Clog Heroes technician comes out for an $89 dispatch fee, waived when you go ahead on site, and writes the price down for you to approve first.

A Planned Potomac Resort Since 1882
Colonial Beach was planned from the start. Surveyors laid out a full resort on the Potomac in 1882, and the General Assembly incorporated the town in 1892.
By 1906, steamers were bringing thousands of visitors down from the Washington area. The Bell House, built in the mid-1880s on Irving Avenue, still stands.
Downtown earned its own listing on the National Register in September 2021. The Colonial Beach Commercial Historic District counts 81 contributing buildings, dating from about 1875 to 1970.
The Boardwalk, the Town Pier and the Potomac River Festival
The Downtown Boardwalk Beach has a bathhouse, watersports and swings, plus the Town Pier and places to eat right along the Boardwalk.
In June the Boardwalk fills up for the Potomac River Festival. The 2025 festival ran June 13 to 15 with parades, Boardwalk vendors, a pet parade, fireworks off the Town Pier, a Father's Day car show and a Colonial Yacht Club boat parade.
Here's a fun one for visitors: Colonial Beach sits about 10 feet above the river, and the Maryland state line ends at the low-water mark on the Virginia shore. Wade out far enough and you've left the state.
Castlewood Beach and Monroe Bay
On the Monroe Bay side, Castlewood Beach has a public boat launch and a dog park, and Castlewood Park has a playground, picnic tables and restrooms.
State Route 205 and Route 205Y, Colonial Avenue, bring you into town.
Town Wells, a Town Sewer Plant and Chilly Nights
Colonial Beach runs its own public water system and its own sewage treatment for homes and businesses inside town limits, says Westmoreland County. The drinking water comes from groundwater wells and is treated with chlorine.
The town's wastewater plant is at 2301 McKinney Boulevard. It was built in 1993, rehabilitated in 2008 and is permitted for 2 million gallons a day.
Outside town limits, a private well is common. Statewide, 92 percent of households with a private well also use a septic system, according to the Virginia Department of Health. Tell us which you have when you book.
Winters still freeze here. The Warsaw station on the Northern Neck logs about 77 nights a year at or below freezing and 11.5 inches of snow, so find your main shutoff before the first cold snap.
