Clog Heroes, the Orange County, VA Plumber From the Town of Orange to Lake of the Woods
Need a plumber in Orange County, Virginia? Clog Heroes covers plumbing, drains and sewer lines here. The median Orange County home was built in 1993. About a third of the county's 16,131 housing units went up before 1980, and roughly one in eleven is older than 1950. Plenty of plumbing out here has a few decades of stories in it.
When yours starts telling one, a Clog Heroes technician listens first. You hear it back in plain language and approve a written price before any work begins.

The Town of Orange, the County Seat
Orange County was carved out of Spotsylvania in August 1734. The town of Orange has been its seat ever since.
History sits close to home here. James Madison's Montpelier, the estate of the fourth President, is in the county. So are Ellwood Manor, the Exchange Hotel in Gordonsville and the James Madison Museum.

Town Water, the Rapidan Service Authority and Private Wells
Two public providers handle water and sewer in Orange County: the Town of Orange and the Rapidan Service Authority. The authority was organized in 1969, serves Orange and Madison Counties and counts more than 5,000 homes and businesses in its service area.
Out east, its Lake of the Woods and Wilderness systems serve about 4,300 customers with water drawn from the Rapidan River and piped along Route 3. Its smallest system runs along Route 20, where about 150 customers get water from a well near the Orange County Airport.
Beyond those lines, many homes have their own well. Across Virginia, 92 percent of households on a private well also use a septic system, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
Tell us which setup you have when you book. Town water, authority water or your own well: each one points the technician somewhere different.
Piedmont Hills and 92 Frosty Nights
Orange County is central Piedmont country. The hills roll west toward the Blue Ridge, Cowherd Mountain tops out at 1,196 feet and the Rapidan River draws the northern line. U.S. Routes 15, 33 and 522 cross it, along with State Routes 3, 20 and 231.
It's good grape ground, too. Four wineries sit in the Monticello Viticultural Area here, Barboursville Vineyards and Horton Vineyards among them.
Winters are real. The Piedmont Research Station near Orange records about 92 nights a year at or below freezing, a January average low of 25.3 degrees and 16.4 inches of snow. Know where your main shutoff is before December.
