Clog Heroes, the King George, VA Plumber Between the Potomac and the Rappahannock

King George County, Virginia homeowners can call Clog Heroes for plumbing, drain and sewer work. King George County has a river on each side: the Potomac to the north and the Rappahannock to the south. In between are 180 square miles of land, and more than half of the county's 10,679 homes were built in 2000 or later.

New house or old one, a Clog Heroes technician starts by looking. What they find gets explained in plain language, and the fix gets a written price you approve first.

Northern Neck Since 1720

King George was formed from Richmond County in 1720, on the Northern Neck between the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers.

Then there's Dahlgren. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. It traces back to a 1918 War Department weapons-testing site, and more than ten thousand people work for it or for businesses tied to it.

U.S. Route 301 crosses the Potomac on the Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge. Route 301, State Route 3 and State Route 218 carry most of the traffic through the county.

From 900 Customers to Nearly 4,600

The King George County Service Authority began in 1992 by taking over water and wastewater systems from neighborhoods like the Dahlgren and Fairview Beach sanitary districts. It has grown from about 900 customers to nearly 4,600, roughly 17 percent of county residents.

Its primary service areas are Dahlgren, Fairview Beach, Oakland Park, Courthouse, Circle, Presidential Lakes, Cleydael, Nindes, Hopyard Farm, Arnolds Corner, Peppermill and the Industrial Park.

Outside those areas, many homes run on a private well. Across Virginia, 92 percent of households with a private well also use a septic system, says the Virginia Department of Health. Tell us which you have when you book.

Bald Eagles, the Fall Festival and 76 Frosty Nights

Caledon State Park covers 2,587 acres on the Potomac and is a National Natural Landmark. Bald eagles spend the summer there, and the 2-mile Boyd's Hole Trail is a fine way to look for them.

Every October since 1959, on the second weekend, the King George Fall Festival brings a parade, a carnival, a craft fair, a car show and a 5K run.

Winter still bites by the river. The Quantico station on the Potomac logs about 76 nights a year at or below freezing and 12.4 inches of snow. Know where your main shutoff is.
